AKADO launches the largest online music store in Russia

AKADO-Stolitsa has announced the launch of what it claims is the largest online store in Russia for licensed music as part of its AKADO.music project.

The new AKADO.music online store lists over a million licensed music titles, featuring tracks from such copyright owners as Universal Music, Sony BMG, The Orchard and Kontor. AKADO subscribers will pay 250 rubles a month for access to the entire database. “AKADO.music is quite unique for Russia,” said Sergei Alimbekov, AKADO-Stolitsa managing director. “The online music store was planned in a bid to expand our portfolio of value added services. Now, less than a year later, we are the largest vendor of licensed music in the Russian segment of the Internet. We boast the largest selection of compositions and the largest catalogue of independent artists of all Russian online music stores.” The AKADO.music store features compositions by such greats as ABBA, Amy Winehouse, Bob Marley, Chuck Berry, Duke Ellington, Eminem, Elton John, Elvis Presley, Jennifer Lopez, Metallica, Oasis, Santana, Sting, The Rolling Stones, Tom Waits, U2, Igor Butman and Leningrad. AKADO.music kicked off on 6 December 2007. On 4 August 2008, AKADO-Stolitsa became the first Russian cable TV provider to have signed licensing deals with all the international record majors, most notably, EMI Publishing, Sony ATV and Warner Chappell. The music tracks are available for download in MP3 and WMA.
